Keith Carlock with Sting (DVD)

I know this topic has been done many times here on HOD, but I just started watching the DVD download (from sharingthegroove.org) of Sting live in Portugal, and although the setlist is rather tame Keith Calock REALLY LAYS IT DOWN... and hard! I was amazed.

What really struck me as strange was his cymbal setup. VERY basic. His ride cymbal sounded very cool and trashy, anyone know what ride he might have used for this show? His snare was extremely tilted forward, more than anyone else I have seen. His rack toms are pretty much at no angle at all... and he has two floor toms.

A standout so far is Carlock's performance on Synchronicity II, where he really captures the playful/energetic spirit of Stewart Copeland. Has anyone else been able to download this? It took me a few days, well worth it though!

He used 20" K Constantinople medium ride when he was here in Finland with Sting.... sounded dark and dry... but still with clear stick sound... trashy when crashed. Loved it.

Yeah that seems about right, esp since it didn't have any markings... I should have known!

How's Finland? I used to listen to a lot of Finland bands... still do, mostly of the metal/rock variety... oh and Trio Toykeat!

Hey Chris! I live in Helsinki. Lots of great players here in Finland even though the jazz scene is small.

So you know Trio Toykeat!! How did you get to know of them? It's great to here that music from our small country has reached your ears. Great band! Great drumming!
